Retail sales in the united Kingdom were up just 1.2 percent on year in January, the British Retail Consortium said on Tuesday - marking the weakest annual gain in 15 years.

Retail sales had risen a revised 3.2 percent on year in December.

Same-store sales eased 0.7 percent on year in January after adding an annual 1.1 percent in December.

Non-food non-store sales (Internet, mail order and phone sales) jumped 14.6 percent on year in January after surging an annual 26.5 percent in December.
